It Came Upon The Midnight Clear
It came upon the midnight clear
That glorious song of old
From angels bending near the earth
To touch their harps of gold
Peace on the earth good will to all
From heaven's all-gracious King
The world in solemn stillness lay
To hear the angels sing
Still through the cloven skies they come
With peaceful wings unfurled
And still their heavenly musicow
floats
O'er all the weary world
Above its sad and lowly plains
They bend on hovering wing
And ever o'er its babel sounds
The blessed angels sing
And you beneath life’s heavy load
By care cand guilt bent low
Wh toil along a dreary way
With painful steps and slow
Look up! For golden is the hour
Come swiftly on the wing
The Prince was born to bring you peace
Of Him the angels sing
It Came Upon The Midnight Clear
For lo the days have come to pass
By prophets seen of old
When down into the circling years
Came Christ as was foretold
His Word of peace shall to the earth
God’s ancient promise bring
And all who take this gift wil hear
The song the angels sing
Come Lord Jesus

INVOCATION
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen
Matthew 28:19
Confession & Forgiveness
P: If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.
C: But if we confess our sins, God, who is faithful and just, will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:8-9
Time for reflection on God's Word
and for self-examination.
P: Let us then confess our sins to God our Father.
C: Most merciful God, we confess that we are by nature sinful and unclean. We have sinned against You in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done and by what we have left undone. We have not loved You with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We justly deserve Your present and eternal punishment. For the sake of Your Son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us. Forgive us, renew us, and lead us, so that we may delight in Your will and walk in Your ways to the glory of Your holy name. Amen.
P: In the mercy of almighty God, Jesus Christ was given to die for us, and for His sake God forgives us all our sins. To those who believe in Jesus Christ He gives the power to become the children of God and bestows on them the Holy Spirit. May the Lord, who has begun this good work in us, bring it to completion in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
C: Amen.
Prayers of the church
lord's prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed* be Thy name. Thy
kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give
us this day our daily bread; and
forgive us our trespasses as we
forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into
temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever.
AMEN
* hallowed means "holy"

SCRIPTURE READING
This morning’s reading comes from the book of Genesis, chapter 3, starting at verse 14.
14 So the LORD God said to the serpent: Because you have done this, you are cursed more than any livestock and more than any wild animal. You will move on your belly and eat dust all the days of your life. 15 I will put hostility between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring, He will striie yur head, and you will strike his heel. 16 He said to the woman: I will intensify your labor pains; you wil bear children with painful effort. Your desire will be for your husband, yet he will rule over you. 17 And
he said to the man, “Because you listened to your wife and ate from the tree about which I commanded you, ‘Do not eat from it’: The ground is cursed because of you. You will eat from it by means of painful labor all the days of your life. 18 “It will produce thorns and thistles for you, and you wil eat the plants of the field. 19 “You will eat bread by the eat of your brow unti you return to the ground, since you were taken from it. For you are dust, and you will return to dust.” 20 The man named his wife Eve because she was the other of all the living. 21 The LORD God made clothing from skins for the man and his wife, and he clothed them.
Here ends the reading.

He Shall Reign Forevermore
VERSE 1
In the bleak mid-winter
All creation groans
For a world in darkness
Frozen like a stone
Light is breaking in a stable
for a throne
CHORUS 1
And He shall reign forever-
more forevermore
And He shall reign forever-
more forevermore
Unto us a Child is born the
King of kings and Lord of
lords
And he shall reign forever-
more forevermore
He Shall Reign Forevermore
INSTRUMENTAL 1
VERSE 2
If I were a wise man
I would travel far
If I were a shepherd
I would do my part
But poor as I am
I will give to Him my heart
CHORUS 2
And He shall reign forever-
more forevermore
And He shall reign forever-
more forevermore
Unto us a Child is born the
King of kings and Lord of
lords
And he shall reign forever-
more forevermore
He Shall Reign Forevermore

apostles' creed
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From there He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins the resurrection of the body and
the life everlasting.
Amen
